McLellan family papers, 1839-1884.

This collection consists of personal and business papers of the McLellan family in New Orleans, La. Included are handwritten correspondence, licenses, an insurance policy, printed items, a receipt for a subscription to the New Orleans commercial bulletin, and legal and financial documents primarily concerning shipments of goods into New Orleans. Also included are several items having no apparent connection to the McLellan family, such as a certificate signed by Henry Clay Warmoth, governor of Louisiana, appointing a New Orleans notary public. Places of origin of business letters include Balize (La.), New York, Boston, Mobile, Newark, Galveston, and London.
